One of the oddest and least talked about aspects of the Paranormal and the Supernatural is something called fictional incursions. Simply put, this is when certain ideas, characters or details of narrative stories seems to in some way come alive, not only to their creators but to those who are familiar with the stories. As crazy as it sounds, in some way stories are alive and show themselves to us in certain situations. There is no other group of people that this occurs to more in Western Culture than Magicians and Occultists. Here to pull apart and examine this extremely odd phenomenon are Magician Wren Collier and the author of a new book which delves into this occurrence, Joshua Cutchin!
Wren Collier is a magician and sometimes Thelemite living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a frequent contributor on the Where Did The Road Go? Podcast, as well as contributing to projects like NAEQ.IO. Wren is on the social media platform X but be sure to check out Wren’s Work at Liminal Room by clicking the pic below.

Josh’s book which provides the thrust of this episode is Fourth Wall Phantoms- Reflections on the Paranormal, Narrative and Fictions becoming Fact.
YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK.
I was beyond honoured to have a blurb on the back cover of this masterpiece in which I stated- “Joshua Cutchin writes the sort of books I’ve been waiting my entire life for. In Fourth Wall Phantoms, Joshua is not comfortable with staying on shore, but buoys himself in very strange waters and urges us to look down into their depths with him. What we see is something which raises enormous questions about not only anomalous experiences but that of the creative act in every capacity that it is evoked. This is an extremely important work; the ramifications within Fourth Wall Phantoms cut across every aspect of the Paranormal, the Supernatural and especially the Occult. It is time to give long overdue attention to what the creative among us have always suspected, and quite a few of them already know—that our fictions are alive, real, and interact with us constantly.”
