Astrological Magic with Andrew Watt

Astrology and Magic. Two things that go together like salt and pepper. When we look back through the ages, they always seem to have been intertwined, for matching what happens in the celestial spheres with what happens here on earth seems like such a natural interaction. But where does one even start? What things should one keep in mind if they want Astrology to be the major aspect of their Magical spells and rituals. Helping us through it is the Astrologer, Magician and Poet- Andrew Watt.

  1. Hi, I was curious where Andrew got his planetary night rulerships from? I believe we usually consider each planet as ruling from dawn of their day till dawn the next day.

    1. Heya Kurt! I reached out to Andrew, this is what he had to say-

“It is a great question, and something that perhaps I didn’t make it clear as it needed to be.
In astrology, there are a lot of examples of “archons currently in charge”, and “archons”, and “sub-archons” and “magistrates”.
      This is one of those.
So, today is Friday. Venus rules from dawn on Friday to dawn on Saturday. She’s the “archon presently in charge”. But from dusk to dawn, Mars is the sub-archon or archon or magistrate — Venus needs her beauty sleep.
Mars will wake her if it’s important enough for her to take full command of the situation, but otherwise he does what she’s left in her standing orders: promote sex, connection, diplomacy, creativity, networking. He’s doing Venus’ will, but in a Mars-like way.
So the planetary hours of Venus-Day are like duty-officers, under Venus’s direct command: they’re doing Venus’s bidding, in as Venus like a way as they can manage. At night, they’re doing Venus’s bidding under Mars’s direction: might be a little hotter, a little heavier, a little more aggressive and assertive.”

Hope this helps! We’ll definitely talk about it next episode!
